John Popper Joins Lilith Fair

Jun 27th, 1998

Lilith Fair is no longer just for the ladies. Sources tell Live! Daily that Blues Traveler front man John Popper will make a surprise appearance with the Indigo Girls at the Lilith Fairs stop at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, this Saturday. "He wants to do Lilith Fair, and this is the way to do it as a side man," the source said.

The man known within the industry as the "Puff Daddy of rock-and-roll", for his numerous musical collaborations will be in good company. Artists scheduled to perform at Saturday's show include Lilith founder Sarah McLachlan, Natalie Merchant, Ks Choice, Erykah Badu, Shawn Colvin, Billie Myers, Lhasa, Tara Maclean, and Ana Gasteyer. Sheryl Crow, who was also scheduled to perform, has been forced to bow out of the festival due to exhaustion.

Popper and Blues Traveler are currently pitching their latest single to hit the radio waves , the ballad "Yours," off the Straight On Till Morning release. The band was originally scheduled to launch the H.O.R.D.E. tour on July 9th in St. Paul Minnesota, but promoters recently decided to nix the show due to poor ticket sales, the result of bad weather that has recently plagued the area. The H.O.R.D.E. tour is now scheduled to kick off on July 10th at the Alpine Valley Music Theatre in East Troy, Wisconsin. A full-length Blues Traveler solo tour in support of Straight On Till Morning is also planned for the fall.
