The thirteen-track disc will feature a live cut of Low Rider from their performance on the VH-1 mainstay, as recorded in April of 1997 and broadcast a month or two later. According to a press release:

The CD release kicks of with an extensive marketing campaign beginning with the broadcast of an hour-long special edition of the television series, called The Best of Hard Rock Live - The Album, premiering on VH1, Saturday, June 24 at midnight. The special, which will feature the thirteen performances captured on the CD, will subsequently air on PBS stations across the country during the month of July and will air in national syndication during the month of September.
