04-25-2001Record release show announced; "Pretty Angry" available for mp3 download; New interview with Ben Wilson

After four long years without a new release, Blues Traveler announced on Friday that they would be celebrating their new album, Bridge, with an intimate show at New York City's Supper Club. The party will be the band's first at the 800-capacity venue, and will be one of at least two shows that day, after a late-afternoon showing at the Ed Sullivan Theater for a taping of The Late Show with David Letterman. Rumors are circulating about an additional, late-night show somewhere in the city, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

In the first sign of several that the band will be getting heavy promotion for the upcoming release, Blues Traveler is featured as "Artist of the Week" at ArtistDirect.com. While the band's bio has yet to be updated on the site ["the future of the band is understandably uncertain"], the feature includes both a drawing for a set of five autographed harmonicas and other goodies as well as the first downloadable track from the new album, "Pretty Angry". The Blues Traveler feature page can be seen here.

Black-Cat list member Matt Falzone had the opportunity to interview the newest band member, keyboardist Ben Wilson, while the band was in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina during their four-show run. The transcription of their interview is now available on this site, and includes several revelations about the inner workings of the band, what may be entering the song rotation on Spring Tour, and a candid retelling of Ben's audition process. This interview is definitely worth a read! Many thanks to Matt for sharing it with us.

More miscellaneous news: The video shoot has finished for Girl Inside My Head; the video is expected to be in the mix on MTV sometime in May. The boys will also be returning to their old stomping grounds of Princeton, NJ, to sign copies of Bridge at Compact Disc World, starting at 5pm on May 9th. The show for the Wolf Trap is unofficially a 'go' according to the home office, and amrecords.com's tour itinerary for the band puts them in Sacramento on June 3rd. More tour dates will be posted as they come in - stay tuned!
