09-27-2002John Popper to host, perform at Jammys; Fall tour dates trickling out

A recently-posted story to jambands.com has confirmed that Blues Traveler frontman John Popper will be emceeing this year's Jammy Awards, to be held October 2nd at Roseland Ballroom in New York City. This will be Popper's second appearance at the annual awards, now in their third year; Popper appeared last June with the Disco Biscuits. In addition to his hosting duties, he is expected to sit in with various bands during the course of the night.

The band will be taking most of October off in preparation for the release of What You And I Have Been Through on October 22nd, but a few tour dates have been released for late October and into November. Tickets are on sale for a Halloween show at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC, from where the band heads north to Philadelphia's TLA for a two-night stand on November 1st and 2nd. Dates are still open on the 4th and 5th, after which the band is expected to host a multiple-night run in New York, although plans have yet to be finalized. After that, a two-week long jaunt across the country will wind up with two weeks running up the west coast; the only date of this run that is confirmed at the moment is a November 27th gig at Hollywood's House of Blues, a repeat performance of last year's show at the same date and location. The tour is expected to last through the first week of December, after which the band will take another month off before heading into the studio.
