10-23-2003Band calls an end to the year's touring; One more child and one more show in the works

Last Saturday's showing at the Texas State Fair is apparently the last of Blues Traveler's scheduled tours for 2003 according to both conversations with the band backstage and a recent announcement posted to the band's official web site. While plans had originally been underway to schedule shows in the northeast - Boston's Orpheum Theatre and New York's Beacon Theatre were two of the target venues, according to a missive from Chan Kinchla this past August - it was apparently determined only recently that a fall tour would not be feasible. The Kinchlas are expecting their second son sometime during the next couple of months so congratulations are certainly in order for the proud parents of who will soon become the fourth Traveler child.

There remains, however, one last chance for fans to catch the band before the calendar turns to 2004; San Francisco's KFOG-FM recently announced their lineup for their 18th annual "Concert 4 Kids". The California radio station has long been an ally of the band's, recording and broadcasting several of their concerts (and sponsoring many others) since 1994 and possibly earlier. Tickets go on sale for the Concert 4 Kids this Saturday at noon; prices start at $30 and range up to $100. The concert, which also features blues musician Robben Ford as well as Los Lonely Boys, will be held on December 11th at the Flint Center in Cupertino.
