06-28-2004Blues Traveler joins forces with Rock For A Remedy

A word from BluesTraveler.net founder Craig Davis...

Hey everyone,
Long time no post. I've been busy beyond belief, but I'm never too busy to talk about something that's important.

There's lots of people around this country that go hungry every day and its time we help. I ran into Daniel, BT's Production Manager at the Jason Mraz show here in Denver earlier this month, and he told me about a group of Jason's fans that decided to start doing something about the hunger problem in this country. They started up a charity for food donations called Rock For A Remedy. It's a non-profit organization that collects food for local food pantries around the nation in conjunction with a number of different artists on tour.

After talking to Daniel about it, I think the idea of a food drive at a BT show is great! Daniel has laid out plans with the people from Rock For A Remedy to have them set up donation barrels at 6 of the bigger BT gigs this summer. Here are the dates:

July 4, 2004 - Red Rocks Amphitheater - Morrison, CO
July 9, 2004 - DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston, MI
July 10, 2004 - Promowest Pavilion - Columbus, OH
July 15, 2004 - Meadowbrook Musical Arts Center - Gilford, NH

Please bring a few non-perishable food items if you're hitting one of these shows! Let's show each of the less fortunate who will be benefit from these donations what kind of caring individuals we are and what an amazing community we can have if we all just pull together and help such a great cause! I know I have a bunch of cans of food at home that I will happily donate on the 4th. I know a lot of you can, too. But it's not just about cans - peanut butter, cereal, ramen noodles, powdered milk, baby food, fruit cups - the possibilities are endless! Even if you think you can't spare it - bring a can for Bob - you know he would!

Ever since New Year's Eve 1995, the band has pulled out special tunes for us so many times at special gigs. Well, they've offered us up 6 special gigs and are asking us to bring food to help those less fortunate. Let's show our thanks for so many years of an amazing friendship between a band and their fans - and at the same time, helping a much, much needed cause.
