05-15-2007Red Rocks tickets available and opener announced; John to appear on new Sesame Street DVD; John Popper Project will rock on the Hudson River in August

The return to Red Rocks had been confirmed several weeks ago, but made it official last week with the announcement of an on-sale date through Ticketmaster. After a brief pre-sale through frontgatetickets.com, the regular sale has kicked in, and general admission tickets are now on sale for $38.50. Those wishing to purchase reserved or "Golden Circle" seating will pay an extra $4. The band also announce the same day that this year's opener would be the Violent Femmes. The event kicks off at 6pm and will run until well after the last fireworks have exploded.

In addition to new summer dates for Blues Traveler, two bits of news from the John Popper camp have come out over the past week. First, from the Muppet Newsflash:

Sesame Workshop is planning on releasing a new direct-to-DVD video entitled "Sesame Street: Kids Favorite Country Songs" on June 5, 2007. In this hour-long special viewers will join Elmo and his country cousin Elmer in a festive Country Jamboree. The special is packed with more than 20 songs (both new songs and beloved classics) and will feature many great country moments the Sesame Street cast. This special also features several celebrity country stars, including: Garth Brooks, Lee Ann Womack, John Mceuen (Nitty Gritty Dirt Band), John Popper (Blues Traveler), Allison Krauss and Johnny Cash. The DVD is already up for pre-ordering around the web as it will hit stores in just 36 days.

Secondly, two additional shows have been added to the John Popper Project schedule for this summer. The band has been booked on a "Rockin' the River" cruise, formerly known as the New York City Blues Cruise, in the Big Apple. Both shows will take place on August 2nd, aboard a double-decker tour boat on the Hudson River. Tickets are available through Ticketweb now for the 7pm show and the 9:30 show. The boat leaves from Pier 83, at 42nd Street on the Hudson.

LATE NOTE: We have just received word that the John Popper Project shows may have been scheduled and announced prematurely and should NOT be considered as confirmed.
