12-05-1999Derek Trucks talks to jambands.com about Frogwings

From jambands.com:

Butch Trucks' Flying Frog Records Prepares To Spread Its Wings

Flying Frog Records, the vision of Allman Brothers Band drummer Butch Trucks, is preparing its initial releases. The label will issue Frogwings' debut album (featuring Butch, Oteil Burbridge, John Popper, Jimmy Herring, Derek Trucks, Mark Quinones and Kofi Burbridge) along with new recordings from some notable bands within the jam band scene. Trucks was exposed to some of these groups when he appeared along with Oteil, on the first four dates of the jambands.com tour this past June. The drummer/impresario, who was in Cambridge last Thursday taking in the sounds of the Slip, says, "I'm putting together a label that will include the best players out there and will be as 'artist friendly' as is humanly possible." One interesting feature about Flying Frog is that it will be a publicly traded company, allowing fans to own a piece of the label. More announcements are promised in the weeks to follow.
