10-31-2002Fall tour solidified; John to play The Star-Spangled Banner at tonight's Wizards game; Openers confirmed for Irving Plaza; Blues Traveler to appear on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien"

A Rolling Stone article posted last week reveals the final few dates of the band's fall tour, as discovered yesterday by a Black-Cat list member. In addition to the previously-announced dates on the tour dates page, the band will make stops in San Diego, CA (two nights at 4th and B), Eugene, OR (The McDonald Theatre) and Seattle, WA (The Moore Theatre). The tour officially kicks off tonight with a Halloween Black Cat Bash at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC. John is busying himself with various appearances; this morning he dropped in on DC101's Elliot in the Morning and will also be playing "The Star-Spangled Banner" before tonight's Washington Wizards-Boston Celtics game at the MCI Center.

Despite rumors circulating that the Spin Doctors would be opening the Sunday, November 10th show at Irving Plaza, it appears that those plans have fallen by the wayside. The current schedule has Lake Trout opening on Thursday, Friday and Sunday, while jazz guitarist Wayne Krantz opens the show on Saturday night. It has also been learned that the band will be appearing on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" on Friday night (actually early Saturday morning) along with actress Julianne Moore and comedian Wayne Brady. Tickets to the show may still be available by calling the NBC ticket line at (212) 664-3056. Limit is four tickets per party.
