According to Red Rocks Amphitheatre's web site, redrocksonline.com, Howie
Day has officially been tapped as the opener for this year's July 4th
show. This will be his second consecutive Red Rocks opening slot, as
he also filled the bill last year with G. Love & Special Sauce.
Leftover Salmon will still be opening on July 3rd, but had to turn
down a reprise of their 1997 opener appearances due to prior
commitments at a festival in Minnesota.
Several new dates have been announced since the last news update.
In addition to the typical slate of festivals and fairs (including a
return to Mad Booking's series, now scheduled for Nashville, Atlanta
and Memphis), the band will also be playing several smaller venues in
Florida (the Freebird Cafe in Jacksonville Beach and Jannus Landing
in St. Petersburg), Virginia (the Wolf Trap in Vienna and Innsbrook
Pavilion in Glen Allen), Massachusetts (the Cape Cod Melody Tent
in Hyannis), and Pennsylvania (Shawnee Mountain in
Shawnee-on-Delaware). The band will also return to the casino circuit
for a few shows, including Prairie's Edge in Minnesota, the Ho-Chunk
in Wisconsin, and the Mandalay in Las Vegas. Many tour dates have yet
to be announced, so stay tuned to the tour page
for the latest updates.
