04-08-2005Red Rocks 2005 confirmed, summer tour upcoming; Blues Traveler to play NYC for launch of Toshiba gigabeat

And it's official! The one and only Gina posted on the official site today to announce that the band will once again be returning to Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO to celebrate the nation's birthday. Supporting the band this year will be The Wallflowers, a band not seen touring with Blues Traveler since a set of shows in November of 1996. Tickets to the show will go on sale a week from tomorrow, April 16th, through Ticketmaster. In the same update, the home office also mentioned plans for a summer tour, to be announced on the site's calendar very soon.

One non-summer tour date is coming up early next week, however - as part of the launch for the new Toshiba gigabeat player (mentioned here last week), the band will be playing a set in its home town of New York City. The "launch party" for the new device is expected to take place at 6pm on Tuesday, April 12th at Times Square Studios, better known as the filming location for Good Morning America. The party will be hosted by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts and feature a live set by Blues Traveler, according to a press release. Entry to the studio will be restricted as it is a private event, but rumors are also circulating that the show will be viewable via the "Super Sign" JumboTron, located outside the studio at 44th and Broadway, although this has not been confirmed as of yet. At the very least, fans should be able to see the band through the windows of the street-level studio.
