Carolina Blues
Lyrics: John Popper
Music: John Popper

Trying to make a train by sunrise gonna have to run a red light
Trying to make a train by sunrise gonna have to run a red light
Tangling with my Carolina you know the girl kept me up all night
And when my Carolina throw down you know the girl knows how to fight

Don't think we're gonna make it there's nothing else that anyone can do
Don't think we're gonna make it there's nothing else that anyone can say
Almost got the feeling that Carolina's liking it that way
I'm waiting on the train man, to wait and take the pain away

All aboard
All aboard
All aboard
All aboard
Wait for me
Wait for me
Wait for me
Wait for me

Train man kept his promise gonna try and go on back to bed
Train man kept his promise gonna try and go on back to bed
Can't sleep anyway thinking 'bout what my Carolina said
And oh my Carolina running like a freight train through my head

Song information:
Made it as high as #4 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks in 1997.
This song is about an argument John had with his girlfriend, and except for a few details, the events of this song are supposedly true as told - they got into a fight and he drove her all the way from his house to the train station.
The video for this song was filmed after a bachelor party for Chan and Brendan in 1997. They were in New Orleans for Jazzfest, and they stood on a railroad bridge, in the rain, and pretended to play their instruments while still hung over.

Carolina
"Carolina" is a reference to a person, not a place - one of John's girlfriends.
throw down
To fight. May stem from the older phrase "throw down the gauntlet" (see "Conquer Me") but more likely comes from hockey (where players throw down their gloves before a fight) or wrestling (where participants literally throw each other down).
